No Limit on Grace

"Then Peter came up and said to him, 'Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?' Jesus said to him, 'I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.'"
— Matthew 18:21–22

Peter thought seven was generous. Jesus' answer isn't really about arithmetic — He's dismantling the idea that forgiveness runs out, like a resource you eventually deplete. If someone keeps hurting you in the same way, the exhaustion you feel is real, and boundaries may still be wise and necessary. But your posture of heart doesn't have to calcify into bitterness with a countable limit. Ask God today for the strange, supernatural capacity to keep forgiving without keeping score.

Prayer

Jesus, I don't have seventy-times-seven forgiveness in me on my own. Fill me with a capacity to forgive that only comes from You. Amen.
