"So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his own works as one rested from his."
Sabbath rest is not simply a day off from a to-do list; it's a theological statement about ceasing from the exhausting project of trying to save or prove yourself. When you rest, you are practicing the truth that the work of your worth was already finished at the cross, not still pending on your performance. Today, whether or not you can take a full day off, practice one small act of ceasing — an hour without striving, a task left undone without guilt — as a rehearsal of that deeper rest.
Lord, teach me to rest not just from tasks but from trying to earn what You've already given. Amen.
