In Quietness and Trust

"In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength."
— Isaiah 30:15

Isaiah delivers this to a nation frantically forming military alliances instead of trusting God, and their busy self-reliance is exactly the opposite of what he's prescribing. Strength, in this verse, comes not from more activity or more control but from a returning — a coming back to dependence — and a quiet trust. If you've been trying to strengthen yourself through sheer output and hustle, this verse offers an uncomfortable but freeing alternative: sometimes the strongest thing you can do today is stop, return, and trust quietly instead of striving louder.

Prayer

Lord, teach me the strength found in quietness and trust rather than striving. Help me return to rest in You today. Amen.
