Hope That Holds

"We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame."
— Romans 5:3–5

This is not a shortcut to hope; it's a long chain forged through actual suffering, endurance, and character formed slowly under pressure. If your hope today feels thin or hard-won, that's not a sign it's weaker than someone else's — it might be a sign it's more deeply forged. The hope Paul describes doesn't disappoint, because its foundation isn't circumstance; it's the love of God poured into you through the Spirit, which remains constant no matter what today's suffering looks like.

Prayer

Father, use even this hard season to forge a hope in me that won't be put to shame. Pour Your love into me again today. Amen.
