"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
The measure Paul gives isn't 'forgive as much as feels fair' — it's 'forgive as God forgave you,' which is an entirely different scale. Think honestly about the debt you've already been released from, the ways grace absorbed what you could never repay. That memory should soften the grip you're holding on someone else's offense. Forgiveness doesn't mean pretending the wound didn't happen or rushing reconciliation before trust is rebuilt. It means releasing your right to make them pay, the way your own debt was released.
Father, thank You for forgiving what I could never repay. Give me a heart soft enough to forgive as You have. Amen.
